About the Founder

Hi, I’m Somnath Ghosh, a dedicated nature-lover from Santiniketan and the founder of Brikkho
Foundation. My journey began with a deep connection to nature, feeling the pain of an uprooted plant,
hearing the cries of hungry animals, and understanding the desperate call for help from our
environment. This profound empathy and the realization that we depend on nature for survival, but
nature does not depend on us, inspired me to dedicate my life to environmental conservation.
Born and Education
I was born into a middle-class family in Santiniketan. After completing my Board exam in, I moved to
Kolkata for further education. I followed my passion for film and animation by completing a course in
Film Editing & Designing at HITECH ANIMATION.
Career and Mindset
Returning to Bolpur after two years in Kolkata, I established my production house, "Chayachobi India,"
aiming to create a hub for music videos, short films, documentaries, and social media marketing.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic changed my perspective, providing me the opportunity to think about
the well-being of humankind. I shifted my focus towards social work, helping underprivileged
communities, stray animals, and elderly individuals during the lockdown.
Rescue and Relief Work
During the lockdown, I collaborated with other organizations to rescue animals and feed over 100 street
dogs for 150 days. My involvement in social activities deepened, leading me to work actively during the
AMPHAN cyclone, helping 150 families in Sundarban. These experiences reinforced my commitment to
environmental and social causes.
Establishment of Brikkho Foundation
My love for nature and animals drove me to create the Brikkho Foundation. While working with the
forest department, I recognized the urgent need for more plantations to produce oxygen and support
life. Closing my production house, I dedicated myself to tree adoption and environmental conservation.
The Brikkho Foundation was established to encourage people to adopt trees for a greener and healthier
planet. Despite being a new organization, we have received an overwhelming response from individuals
worldwide committed to saving our environment.
